When the Booster Club was formed, our primary mission was to establish a financial resource for the various school based activities to tap when opportunities were afforded for which there was insufficient budget allocation from the School District.Following our first year of operation, we worked with the school administration to develop a funding request procedure. Annually in the fall, staff members across all departments and activities complete funding requests which are then submitted to the Booster Club directors for review, discussion and voting. Within a month or less, funding requests are granted.
It's important to note that 100% of the requests submitted include information about what the requesting group wants, why, the number of students and years it will cover, etc. And, every organization that submits a request is also expected to 'give back' in some way to the school. That may be in the form of their own fundraising efforts (since costs continue to escalate even as the recession has impacted the school district budgets) or volunteering to cover Concessions, etc. In other words, the Booster Club, in coordination with the administration, is working to foster reciprocal giving which funnels down to the student body, teaching them there are 'no entitlements'.
The Lakes Eagles Booster Club is proud that our first year's efforts enabled us to support 17 different groups with just over $12,000. Following our second year, 27 groups received support in the amount of $23,500 (almost double our first year!). Through the generosity of our parents, staff and community, we have been able to continue this tradition in each successive year. For details, please access the files posted on this page in the red box.
True to our charter, the various grants support the entire community which comprises Lakes Community High School-academics, athletics, the arts, and extra-curricular clubs and organizations.
